The year 2018 has been absolutely crazy for me, it’s hard to believe everything I have been up to looking back over the course of the year. Below is the main 2018 highlights video and after that will be more content from 2018 that stands out to me.

2018 Highlights Video

For the music of this video, there was only one track I had in mind in using and that was Joris Voorn’s remix of Paul Simon – Homeless. I have witnessed this song being played live at events by Joris himself, every time I hear the track being played it gives off energy that just makes the room feel magical. I wanted it to be at the forefront of representing the 2018 highlights video. I sent a text to Joris asking if I could use it and I got a yes, so thankfully it was quite straightforward to organise. I have a lot of love for Joris for letting me use his music for my video.

Opening the video is none other than the main man Carl Cox dancing with myself. For me, this was a once in a lifetime moment and it’s still mind-blowing to have achieved that.

Next with the title into is a shot of me on the dancefloor at Awakenings’ Joris Voorn & Friends on Saturday 20th October. The production lighting in the venue really worked well with the music in the video – so a nice intro.

Then we go into shots of me talking into a BBC Radio 1 microphone and appearing dancing at BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix – dancing in the HQ of the BBC was a surreal experience, seeing the newsroom in the same building of where I was raving was totally cool.

The filming in the studio part was when we were filming for Ministry of Sound’s ‘The Annual’ TV Advert. I found that showing behind the scenes content gave a more personal touch to it.

We then have myself dancing with my little sister at Bestival. This was a highlight as it was her first time to a rave-like event and she’s only 10 years old, so this was a great brother/sister moment. The event in question was Bestival on 3rd August.

The track drops into a shot of me dancing at Tomorrowland – a great event! Then swiftly into a more serious scene of me performing a KEYNOTE INTERVIEW at the International Music Summit. Speaking at The International Music summit was a life moment I will never forget. I’m so proud to have been given the opportunity to speak at such a huge and well-respected event.

After the more serious shots at IMS, the video cuts back into the more fun classic DJ dancing shots, with Peggy Gou, Pan-Pot and Seth Troxler, also a little cameo from Mixmag’s Global Editorial Director Nick Decosemo.

I then showcase some of the projects I have been involved in. The social media commercial for Currys PC World / JBL via The Hook, an event with Sport Relief and of course, my New York video with Mixmag.

To end the video I had one more shot of me dancing with some people holding up a Bradley Gunn Raver sign, and finally closing the video with shots of Joris DJing with a set of Rave Goggles I gave him.

What a year!
