Monthly Rave Review – February 2017

Welcome to the monthly rave review for February 2017

February was a big month for me, I appeared in articles on The Tab and Bristol Post, went over to Berlin with Morning Gloryville and explored the latest venue everyone is talking about: Printworks.

FRI 3rd: Oculus Part 2 @ Tunnel Club, Birmingham

Started the month by heading up to Birmingham for Oculus. Oculus is a new addition to the promoters world, showcasing up & coming talent from Birmingham and is donating all profits to charity. Run by good friend Callum Hughes, it was a must to go and support him. It was great to see the event doing so well.

You can attend the next Oculus event on the 12th May at Monastery, Birmingham. Click here for the Facebook event.

SAT 4th: Launch Extravaganza @ Printworks, London

February was a very important month being the month of the Printworks launch. LWE and Printworks did a very good job of keeping it mysterious and not knowing exactly what to expect made it even more exciting.

Walking into the venue you are presented with a large room, but it’s when you walk up the stairs you discover the real magic. A long industrial room with walls towering high with music pumping in every corner really taking you away into a new universe.

Starting off was William Djoko who spent the first three hours setting the scene and allowing your mind to process the crazy reality of this place, then came on the mad performance of Seth Troxler B2B Loco Dice B2B The Martinez Brothers who absolutely smashed it. You can watch the RA live stream from the event here:

The lighting production was off the scale and is seriously impressive:

If you haven’t been to Printworks yet, it is seriously somewhere you must go. You can find the list of events at Printworks here.

FRI 10th: Morning Gloryville @ Station, Berlin

First of all, I love Morning Gloryville so much!

Morning Gloryville host sober breakfast raves. Starting in London, they are now hosting events all over the world spreading love and happiness. As a MGV ambassador, I went over to Berlin with them to rave at the Morning Gloryville Berlin breakfast rave they were putting on. The rave was from 06:30 – 10:30 (UTC+1). It was great to see so many people turning up and starting their day dancing away, all smiling and loving life.

Here is the live stream I hosted from the morning:

If you feel like having a dance before work or just starting your day with a rave, head over to Morning Gloryville’s Website and find a date that suits you. They’ll also be running at WE ARE FSTVL too. Even if it doesn’t seem like your kind of thing at first, go and see for yourself, Morning Gloryville creates a vibe like no other rave.

SAT 11th: Bardo @ Blue Mountain, Bristol

Bardo is also a new addition to the scene, but already showing itself strong with top quality events showcasing Bristol’s Techno talent. Hosted at Blue Mountain in Stokes Croft, it was the perfect venue for such an event and really provided that dark atmosphere.

Darren C provided a strong mix where you can listen back here:

Its always great fun raving around the smaller raves around Bristol:

The next Bardo event is on 15th April.

SAT 18th: MJC & Friends @ Printworks, London

Couldn’t go more than 2 weeks and I was back at Printworks. It is really that good, just saying. Also being a day rave, day raves are the best.

Here’s me dancing to Maya Jane Coles‘ set as she played Javi Colors – The Age Of Love (2017 Remake):

SAT 18th: The Acid Experiment @ Lab 11, Birmingham

The Acid Experiment have gone from strength to strength  from hosting raves in a small courtyard space with a few hundred people to sell out events with Fabio and Grooverider playing for them. The scene in Birmingham is really going off right now and The Acid Experiment is bossing it.

This time Acid Experiment gave back to the fans with free-entry for all. Of course, all the free tickets were all gone before the event.

Here I am dancing in the warehouse to Cajmere & Wayne Williams – Acid House:

You can catch Altern 8 playing at the next Acid Experiment on 25th March here.

FRI 24th: An Evening With Âme @ Motion, Bristol

An Evening With… run by the same people who host the Shapes raves in Bristol, never ever disappoint… ever.

Having Floating Points, Daniel Avery, Ben Klock play at An Evening With raves and more, this time it was Âme‘s turn. Âme played from 10pm – 6pm, start to finish, providing both the warm up and the heavy final hours. I was planning to leave a fair bit before the end to reserve more energy for Printworks after, but Âme’s performance was so good I just had to stay and carry on raving.

It was really great to see my good friend Rupert in the rave, a fellow brother in the rave. Here’s me and him dancing together:

SAT 25th: Junction 2 Launch @ Printworks, London

16179770_915331121939433_4272992770950738815_o.jpg

Before June 2016, if anyone asked what my favourite rave would be, I would struggle to come up with a straight answer due to there being so many good events. Until Junction 2 happened, Junction 2 is my number one favourite rave and it is so hard to put into words just how good it is.

The last Saturday of the month saw Junction 2’s launch rave at Printworks with Adam Beyer providing an all day 8 hour set. Of course, Adam Beyer took us straight in with a set only he could put together.

You can watch the Mixmag 3 hour live stream from the event here:

This was my favourite Printworks event of the month, and there are plenty more where that came from, I will also be attending:

05/03: Abode

01/04: Knee Deep In London

08/04: Luciano & Friends

30/04: Klockworks presents Photon
